My Priorities

What I'll work on for Midland

Six clear priorities grounded in the real needs of our community families, businesses, and everyone in between.

Midland is a community with tremendous potential. As your Town Councillor, I'll focus on six priorities that reflect what I hear from residents, what I've experienced as a business owner, and what I believe will make the biggest difference for our future.

Support Local Business

A thriving downtown is the heart of our community.

As the owner of MegaMindful Living in downtown Midland, I know firsthand what it takes to build and sustain a local business. I've navigated permits, bylaws, and the day to day realities of serving customers in our community.

I'll work to reduce unnecessary red tape, streamline business licensing and permitting processes, and advocate for policies that help local entrepreneurs start, grow, and stay in Midland.

A vibrant downtown with thriving local businesses creates jobs, attracts visitors, and builds community pride. I'll be a consistent champion for our local business community at the Council table.

Smart Growth

Growth that serves Midland — not growth for its own sake.

Midland is growing, and that's a good thing. But growth needs to be thoughtful. New development should enhance our community's character, not erode it.

I'll push for development that respects our existing neighbourhoods, protects our natural environment, and ensures that infrastructure keeps pace with new housing and population growth.

I believe in housing that is accessible and attainable for families at all income levels and I'll work to ensure that Midland's growth benefits everyone, not just developers.

Transparent Leadership

You deserve to know what's happening at Town Hall.

Too often, residents feel left out of decisions that directly affect their lives. I believe that good governance starts with open, honest communication between elected officials and the people they serve.

I'll work to improve how the Town communicates with residents making Council meetings more accessible, publishing clear summaries of decisions, and actively seeking input before major decisions are made.

I'll hold myself to a high standard of transparency: attending meetings, being available to constituents, and always explaining my votes and reasoning clearly.

Families First

Midland should be the best place to raise a family.

As a mother, I want Midland to be a place where families thrive. That means well maintained parks and recreation facilities, accessible community programming, and safe neighbourhoods for children to grow up in.

I'll advocate for investment in the services and spaces that families depend on from playgrounds and sports facilities to after school programs and community events that bring people together.

I also believe in supporting seniors and older residents who have built this community. Midland should be a place where people can age with dignity and remain connected to the community they love.

Community Collaboration

The best solutions come from working together.

Midland has an incredible network of volunteers, organizations, businesses, and passionate residents who care deeply about this community. I want to harness that energy.

I'll work to build stronger partnerships between the Town and community groups, local businesses, schools, and neighbouring municipalities. Collaboration produces better outcomes than going it alone.

I'll also work to ensure that all voices are heard at the table including those who have historically felt excluded from local decision making.

Responsible Spending

Every tax dollar should work hard for Midland.

Running a business has taught me the value of financial discipline. I understand that every dollar spent by the Town is a dollar that came from a resident or business owner who worked hard to earn it.

I'll approach municipal budgets with the same care I apply to my own business: asking hard questions, looking for efficiencies, and ensuring that spending is aligned with community priorities.

That doesn't mean cutting services that residents depend on. It means making smart investments that deliver real value and being honest with residents about trade offs and priorities.
